I Did Not Know This

Often I am struck by the things I learn just in passing. This no less true when reading the Bible.

Today, I realize I have been reading this passage once a year. This is the first year that I find that Jeremiah mentions the Ark of the Covenant in the past tense. Obviously, this means that the Ark was gone from the Temple When Jeremiah is Prophet.

The verse is 3:16:

And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit

it; neither shall that be done any more. (Authorized King James Version)

So, next time you read expect new things to pop out at you when rereading familiar works.
