Poetry: “Water Basin” by Rick Sanders

Water Tank

Water Tank (Photo credit: arbyreed)

Leaves float, spin.

Water clear, reflective.

The water basin is filled for the matrons.

The bay loves the water wanting to be cooled off.

The chestnut just needs a drink.

The bay wants the hose nozzle to play with.

The chestnut moves back from the splashing water.

The bay attacks the water to darken her face.

She looks like a water buffalo leeking water from her mouth.

Quietly, into the woods, they disappear.
