Jer 10:1

Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

Jer 10:2

Thus saith the LORD, learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

Lately, it has struck me how many are interested in the comet, ISON. God is going to show us His power, but not in the way many fear. If God controls the universe, should not He also control ISON. Fear of ISON smashing into the planet negates God handling of the comet. If Earth is God’s footstool, what good does it do to damage it permanently (See verse 12). Rather, God may want to get out attention to show He is still around for all those that think God has exited Earth for some reason.

In Jeremiah, God does not want us to read the future in the stars, or comets, or solar flares. A horoscope made of the stars and planets is a product of the unbeliever. There is no place in a Christian‘s life for expectant stargazing.

As God continues in Jeremiah 10:3, “Their (heathen) ways are futile and foolish.” NLT
