On this day the New York World publishes the first Sunday comics page. Comics continue to be popular and in 1928, on this same date, Disney‘s Steamboat Willie makes it premiere at the movie theaters. But on a sad note in 1959, on this date Actor-comedian Arthur Q. Bryan, who provided the voice of Warner Bros. cartoon character Elmer Fudd, died in Hollywood at age 60.
